Canada on the No Visit List

So China wants to put Canada on the list of countries that their citizens are not allowed to visit. I say so what. This is how I see it.
Our PM insists on bringing up China's poor record on human rights at every opportunity. Good for our PM. So China doesn't like that very much. Tough, get used to it. So in retaliation China has decided that it will NOT allow its citizens to visit Canada. That is fine. I say lets cut off their funding. As a Canadian, I have a problem with us giving money to China. I know that under some sort of UN resolution we as a first world country give money to third world/developing counties to help them. But since China is emerging as one of the world's strongest economical countries, and one that has one of the largest military in the world, I don't think that they need our money anymore, and by this point should be self sufficient.
That money could be better invested her at home.

Shooting Rampages

So is it becoming the next cool thing to do? Go on a shooting rampage? What makes people think that this is normal. Apparently some do it for fame. Take the shooting that happened on Omaha the other day. In the suicide note that was written, the individual said that at least he would now be famous, or something to that effect. Well just like all other shootings, lets forget about the person that did the shooting and remember those that were lost.
18 years ago there was a shooting in Montreal where a person shot 14 women. I cannot remember the name of the person and I never will, but those 14 lost souls I will always remember.
May God keep them all safe.

Headlight optional?

So what is it that causes people to not replace their burnt out vehicle headlights? Every day that I am on the road I see cars with a burnt out headlight. So do people actually realize when they have a burnt out headlight? I know that I sure would notice. Especially when it is the driver side headlight. But I guess that some just don't quite get it. Perhaps if they were taught how to use their eyes, they may be alright.

Bomb Scare

So yesterday there was a bomb scare at the Royal Ontario Museum (ROM). Now why would someone in their right mind call in such a thing. And to add more to this discussion, some moron posted a video to Youtube showing a fake bombing at the ROM. In my personal opinion, these people should be tracked down and prosecuted to the full extent of the law. There are a few things to note here:
1) They disturbed a $600 plate charity fundraiser,
2) They caused fear amongst the persons in the area; and
3) this is a form of terrorism.
I was recently in LAX (Los Angeles International Airport) and there were signs around indicating that any sort of reference to a bomb whether it be real or a joke, those persons would be charged and prosecuted.
This is no laughing matter. If someone decided that this was their form of a prank or art should have their head examined. Trying to make a statement is one thing and so is meaningful art, but this is neither. This is a blatant disregard for civility. Perhaps if there was a way that their lives could be turned upside down and severely disturbed, they would learn their lesson.

More Wireless Network Companies

Finally the government is going to allow more wireless carriers into our market. I think that it is about time. Our market has been dominated by only three wireless carriers for so long that the competition isn't really there anymore. When you have less than six options available to you, well there really isn't much to choose from. And of those there are really only three that most people could really remember.
We all knew that for a long time now we were paying way too much for cellular service. About twice as much as the rest of the industrialized world. Now I am paying over $200/month right now, so if I were able to cut that in half then just look at the savings. This would put a lot more money in my pocket. With the $1500 or so I could save every year in my cell phone charges, could be put towards paying down debt, or even better, this is an extra mortgage payment.
Just think about it. After every 12 years of having a mortgage and paying that extra payment, well that puts me even closer to financial freedom.
So I say lets just get all of it done. With all other costs rising all around us, it sure will be nice to have something go down.

Private business wanting money

So why is it when some private businesses get into trouble finacially, they run to the government looking for money. Why is it us the people that have to bail out businesses. Currently there are a group of auto part manufactures that are looking to the government for some help. They are asking for $400 million. Now from what I have been able to find out they are looking for the money so they can buy new equipment. Saying that the new equipment will make them more competitive. Sure this is possible that new equipment would make them more competitive, but why should we (since the government gets the money from us the tax payers) bail them out. Perhaps they should suck it up like every other business and come up with a proper business plan.
Maybe the criteria should be that they have to sell their idea and business plan to a bank in order to qualify for a loan. I don't have a problem with helping out businesses because I understand the the more successful businesses we have the better our economy will do. But they are asking us to blindly hand out money. I don't agree with this. What would the consequences be if they still go out of business and cannot repay the loan? Does the government just write it off as a bad business investment?

More bad drivers

So the question of the day is, when did common courtesy go out of style? What makes people think that they can do whatever they want to do while driving? Now I understand that that signal switch is on the OTHER SIDE of the steering wheel, but I guess that between drinking your coffee and speaking on the cell phone, it can be difficult to stretch that finger out. And while on the topic of cell phones, why are there still so many people out there still holding it up to their ear? With all of the hand free device and even speaker options that are available on almost all phones, why is there a need to hold it up? Now I won't be a martyr or anything like that as I use my phone while driving, but I don't hold it up. Put it on speaker and put the thing down. I know it means pushing one more button, but at least you would then be able drive. Perhaps that signal switch is not all that far away after all.

This is my pup. Isn't he cute?

Today's idiots

So here I was driving up to work this morning, and would you believe that all of the idiots were out on the roads as well. Now I understand that when we have the first snowfall of the year, traffic will be a little slower. But why is it that there are always idiots who think that it is OK to drive fast, tailgate, and be even more of an idiot. Now the only justice is that these are usually the ones that end up in the ditch. It is always a pleasent sight to see when that idiot that went speeding past you is in the ditch.
